California-headquartered stompbox manufacturer Vertex Effects has released a new and improved variant of its Ultraphonix Overdrive.
Housed in a relatively slimmer enclosure, the Ultraphonix Special Overdrive MKII does the same job of delivering Dumble-style overdrive tones in a pedalboard-friendly package.
Besides the more compact chassis, the all-analog Ultraphonix MKII comes with a new Level control that sets the signal volume at the input stage, letting you get a bite out of it, regardless of the pickups your guitar fits with.
Additionally, the updated Ultraphonix retains its predecessor’s control set but with some name changes. The controls for Gain and Volume are now respectively the Ratio and Master dials, while the Filter knob keeps its name on the MKII.
Other noteworthy features include true bypass switching, top-mounted jacks, and 9VDC power operation.
The Ultraphonix Special Overdrive MKII comes with a price tag of $199. Visit Vertex Effects to grab one.
