Boss has taken to Instagram to announce the launch of a new Waza Craft compact stompbox.
“New BOSS Waza Craft Compact Pedal. Coming Soon,” Boss wrote on its European Instagram page. Considering the vagueness of the tease, this could mean a quite major release.
The accompanying image provides no clues except that the unit will come in the brand’s standard compact form factor. Moreover, the face for its controls is still undrilled, so the knob arrangement can’t give any hint as to what it could be.
For those who don’t know, Boss’ Waza Craft line consists of classic compact pedals that have been revamped into new yet entirely faithful premium variants. To date, Boss offers Waza Craft versions of eight stompboxes: the BD-2 Blues Driver, the CE-2 Chorus, the DC-2 Dimension C, the DM-2 Delay, the MT-2 Metal Zone, the SD-1 Super Overdrive, the TU-3 Chromatic Tuner, and the VB-2 Vibrato.
Speculation has been rife as to which classic is next in line to be Waza-ified. Looking at the comments section of Boss’s Instagram post, the darlings of the crowd include the OC-2 octaver, the scooped doom-ready octave fuzz of the FZ-2, the RE-20 space echo, and the Swedish-death-metal-in-a-box of the HM-2.
