Tortuga Effects is rare in the guitar effects pedal industry in that whichever Tortuga stompbox you buy, you know exactly who made it: owner and operator Matt Johnson. For a one-man custom shop, Tortuga’s pedal line is extensive. There’s the candy-apple green Martini, a dual analog chorus and vibrato pedal. Then there’s the hotrod-red Manhattan dual analog flanger. For bass players, there’s the Bassquatch, the bass-voiced brother of Tortuga’s Sasquatch dual-button fuzz pedals. And that’s just the tip of Tortuga iceberg.

Tortuga Abduction
Tortuga Effects is keeping things simple with its Classic Series, a hand-made pedal line marked by simpler graphics, simpler effect names, and more affordable price tags. The tone of Tortuga’s Classic pedals, however, are anything but simple. The Abduction Classic, for instance, is a dual channel overdrive box that boasts completely separate gain circuits and an old stock germanium transistors in each of its drive channels. You can’t get a more pure, more vintage overdrive sound than that.

Tortuga Effects is keeping things simple with its Classic Series, a hand-made pedal line marked by simpler graphics, simpler effect names, and more affordable price tags. The tone of Tortuga’s Classic pedals, however, are anything but simple. The Bassquatch, as its name suggests, is a bass optimized version of one of Tortuga’s most popular pedals, the Sasquatch fuzz stomp. The same killer fuzz of the Sasquatch, but with a heavier, more aggressive low end that works well with both basses and drop-tuned guitars.

Tortuga Diamondback
Built to add grit and sustain to a tube amp, using Tortuga Effects’ Diamondback overdrive pedal is like giving your tube amp an extra drive channel. Use it with an amp that’s already in crunch mode to give your sound an extra shot of tight, top end heavy bite. You can also use the Diamondback to underdrive an already overdriven amp; even if your amp only has a high gain channel, you can still use the Diamondback to effectively get a clean channel.

Tortuga Galapagos
A super simple and straightforward tremolo pedal that packs the same great vibrato sound of a classic tube amp. The Galapagos tremolo guitar effects pedal from Tortuga Effects emulates the warm swells and round sine wave pulses of a true vintage tube amp vibrato. The straightforward Volume, Depth, and Speed pots give unprecedented control over the vibrato effect, while a special Thump dial kicks the warmth up a notch. Turn the Depth and Rate controls all the way down and you can also use the Tortuga as a clean boost pedal.

This dual channel fuzz box features uniquely matched silicon transistors in each channel, making the fuzz tone tighter and more aggressive compared to germanium-powered fuzz boxes. The Sasquatch Classic also comes with a Feedback switch and a dedicated control knob for even wilder fuzz tones.

Tortuga Yeti
Tortuga Effects founder and one-man pedal shop Matt Johnson describes the Yeti Fuzz-Stortion as “a massive, tight sounding fuzz that’s almost a distortion,” hence the name. This completely hand-made and highly versatile fuzz stomp can dish out everything from a classic hairy fuzz ripped straight from the ‘70s to a modern, high gain wall of sound attack. Add in a special Anger dial that lets you switch between four distinct gain voicings and you get a range of tonal possibilities much wider than most other fuzz stomps can offer.
