The Buzzz by Smallsound/Bigsound is a highly customized take on a classic, incredibly gnarly superfuzz circuit. It retains the standard superfuzz sounds—a clangy and scrambled fuzz featuring noticeable upper octaving and lower harmonics/sub-frequencies—and provides you with more controls to access more subtle dirty boost and drive tones, gated sputter and low buzz-tones. The Buzzz carries interactive controls, including a more extensive gain range, tone-blast toggle, gain modifier toggle, octave on/off, passive LPF, and voltage starve.

Inspired by the Disintegration Loops by William Basinski, the Smallsound/Bigsound Fck Overdrive is a humble attempt to emulate in a pedal format some of the crackling, disintegrating sounds heard on the recordings. A very distinctive effect unlike any other, several of the tones are evocative of torn up speakers, blown-out compression, overdriven tape, and overloaded tubes/amp “sag.” At the core of the Fck Overdrive are several JFET gain stages. It features an extensive range from beefy fuzz to clean boost to gritty drive.

The Mini was built at the request of several customers who fancied the Fck Overdrive’s sound but wished for a more compact package. Smallsound/Bigsound decided to diminish the functionality and incorporate some extra features so both pedals could live on your pedalboard mutually and showcase their strengths. The controls have been streamlined, and more bass has been added to the circuit to make it an excellent choice for keyboardists and bassists. With the Mini, you will enjoy the same JFET overdrive at the core.
