Don’t let the name fool you; Greer Amps doesn’t just make amplifiers, it creates high-quality, handmade guitar effects pedals as well. Founder Nick Greer and his team have been making their pedals one at a time in Athens, Georgia, since 1998. Their recent overdrive triptych—the organic Lightspeed, the harmonic Southland, and the high gain Supa Corba—was very well received for their transparency and how they retain tonal clarity even when they’re pushed into severe overdrive saturation.

Greer Amplification The Southland
The Southland Harmonic Overdrive by Greer Amps is based upon the Lightspeed Organic Overdrive platform. The Lightspeed was designed as a light to mild overdrive. The Southland has more gain, two clipping stages, a focused midrange, and some presence on top of the signal, helping cut through the mix. Similar to the Lightspeed, it responds to pick attack, is touch-sensitive, and has dynamics that will not stop. The Southland is suitable for any music style and pairs perfectly with the Lightspeed.

In celebration of its 18th anniversary, Greer Amps wanted to do something exciting and has decided to reissue the pedal that started it all for them. The Greer Amps Black Fuzz is a straightforward and classy pedal featuring a distinct sound—think of an overdriven B*ssman amp, with a hint of fuzz tacked above. The single knob selects the pedal’s output volume level. The Black Fuzz is very thick and pick sensitive. By changing the pick attack or tweaking the guitar’s volume control, you can unleash a variety of tones.

The Greer Amps Ghetto Stomp boasts vintage Tweed and Valco style tones. It is a tribute to those who loved music and could not afford to watch bands play, but wished to dance the night away. Originally crafted by the Custom Shop exclusively for endorsers, the Nick Greer Green Giant is a basic distortion pedal with a limiter between the clipping section of the diodes and the output of the signal. The Clean Mix control lets you adjust the amount of signal being distorted, creating a sound much that of a clean signal being blended over the distorted signal. The Green Giant is perfect for country, blues, and rock players who seek excellent sounding distortion with the ability to set the amount of hair.

The Greer Amps Hammer features tones ranging from gnarly Texas rock distortion to squashed out, nearly cut-off fuzz. This versatile and amazing pedal has plenty of texture on tap. It can go from classic almost Shin Ei like fuzz tones to beautiful, massive stadium rock distortion tones. The Hammer is a flexible drive machine equipped with an interactive control set. Greer Amps’ Supa Cobra lets you enjoy supreme flexibility within a compact form factor, with natural, amp-esque breakup and sensitivity. The three-way toggle (FAT, LED, and Open) enables versatility in the clipping style and texture. When in LED mode, the clipping is stiffer with more crunch, while in the FAT mode, the circuit clips in a thick, chewy fashion. Greer Amps Super Hornet
Based on the famous FOXX Tone Machine, the Super Hornet by Greer Amps is a shop favorite regarding fuzz and all things octave. Greer Amps has taken the fundamental building blocks of the original circuit, modified it, added some special flavor in the design by leveraging NOS BC-107B transistors, and placed an extra feature in the mix. The Super Hornet is constructed with a familiar interface of Fuzz, Volume, and Tone controls with a dual-mode switch. The Stinger switch enables momentary octave when you engage the fuzz.
