The all-analog White Finger optical compressor pedal works much the same way as the Black Finger tube compressor and the studio-grade NY-2A unit. Electro-Harmonix, however, swapped out the vacuum tubes and used multiple FETs in the White Finger instead to make it a significantly less expensive alternative. It uses a pair of optocouplers for highly varied compression effects with infinitely long sustain and plenty of attack.
