Hughes & Kettner has unveiled the new AmpMan series of compact pedalboard amplifiers, equipped with comprehensive I/O and tone-sculpting possibilities.
The AmpMan is available in Classic and Modern flavors. The former dishes out classic rock drive and retro-voiced clean tones, while the latter yields anything from pristine cleans to metal high-gain drive tones.
Both AmpMan units center around Hughes & Kettner’s proprietary Spirit Tone Generator—an analog signal processor that mimics the behavior of tube amps. They also come with an identical control interface and I/O configuration. Each features dual channels with individual controls for sagging, tone, volume, gain, presence, and resonance, as well as a solo boost level control and a master volume. Footswitches enable channel selection, bypassing the effects loop, and engaging the solo mode and boost.
Other handy features include a 4-16 ohm speaker connection for the inbuilt 50-watt power amp, as well as eighth-inch jack connections for headphones and auxiliary input.
Per Senior Product Manager Rüdiger Forse, “With connoisseur tone-shaping capabilities, impressive power and a comprehensive set of professional features in a handsome little box, the two new AmpMan pedal amps are the go-to solution on stage and in the studio. If there’s a must have, AmpMan has to be it!”
The AmpMan Classic and Modern will be out this month for €349.
