Universal Audio has dived into the guitar stompbox market with three vintage-flavored UAFX pedals—the Astra Modulation Machine, Golden Reverberator, and Starlight Echo Station.
Each unit runs on Universal Audio’s dual-processor UAFX engine, which delivers the “sonic authenticity” of different eras of retro guitar effects. You can enjoy three distinct sounds and additional downloadable effects in a sturdy enclosure that will last decades.
The Golden Reverberator comes with a trio of tube-driven spring reverb-inspired sound options: Hall 224 (Lexicon 224), Plate 140 (EMT 140 reverb), and Spring 65 (Fender 65 Deluxe Reverb). Meanwhile, the Astra Modulation Machine features a spacey studio flanger modeled after vintage 1970s Japanese bucket-brigade chorus/vibrato effects.
Ultimately, the Starlight Echo Station stars three modes spec’d from iconic delay effects spanning the last six decades. You can choose from Analog DMM, Tape EP-III, and Precision, with the first two likely based on the Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man and Echoplex EP-3.
Other features available on UAFX stompboxes include stereo ins and outs, the ability to save a favorite preset for quick recall, selectable buffered/true bypass, optional trails, and silent switching.
The Astra Modulation Machine, Golden Reverberator, and Starlight Echo Station will be available in Spring 2021 for $399 apiece. Head over to Universal Audio for more details.
