DSP wizards Meris and Chase Bliss Audio have unveiled their version of the Lexicon 224, the CXM 1978 Automatone, at the NAMM 2020.
Introduced in 1978, the Lexicon 224 is a vintage digital studio reverb unit boasting a fader-equipped remote. Spec’d from this classic reverb unit, the collaborative CXM 1978 Automatone leverages moving faders for presets and MIDI control.
A trio of classic algorithms is on offer on the CXM 1978 Automatone. These are Plate, Room, and Hall. Users may also engage the LoFi mode for some dark, vintage digital tones.
Elsewhere, the CXM 1978 Automatone sports a tweakable decay crossover so users can enjoy a wholly shapable reverb tail. Meanwhile, users can utilize the expression pedal to remotely control each fader.
Per Chase Bliss Audio’s Facebook post, “Using Chase Bliss Automatone’s robust industrial housing and Meris pro-audio level sound design, the CXM 1978 offers a modern take on its inspiration. Armed with 3 massive algorithms, CXM 1978 takes your guitars and synths to lush new soundscapes.”
Other features include an incredible 32 Bit AD/DA conversion and stereo input and output. “Simply put, Meris is an absolute dream collaboration,” Chase Bliss Audio wrote.
The CXM 1978 Automatone is scheduled for a late summer 2020 release with price TBA.
